Full and partial rewires

Older Richmond and Twickenham housing stock often still has rubber, lead or early PVC wiring, sockets in odd places and nowhere near enough of them. A rewire is the point at which the electrics are brought fully up to current standards and, just as importantly, designed around how you actually live in the house.

Not every property needs a full rewire. Sometimes the sensible answer is a partial rewire — replacing the circuits that are genuinely past their life and keeping sound ones. Cameron will test first and tell you honestly which it is.

Planning it around your home

Before any cable is run, you'll walk through the property together and agree where sockets, switches, lighting points, TV and data outlets go, and where the consumer unit will live. Getting that right on paper is what stops the frustrating compromises later.

First fix, second fix, certification

First fix is the cabling and back boxes, done while walls and floors are open. Second fix is accessories, the consumer unit and lighting, once plastering and decoration allow. The installation is then tested throughout and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate with the results.

Chasing, lifting floors and making good is kept as contained as it reasonably can be, and dust sheets go down every day. It is disruptive work, but it does not have to be chaotic.
